Sarah and Avery met a long while ago. In fact, one of their bridesmaids is my longest and best friend. When we met, these two let me hang with their zoo of animals and supported my small menagerie as well. Chinchillas and rabbits everywhere! After becoming engaged, they asked me to capture their wedding day. (EEK!) Since my focus is on wedding films, I warned them. However, they kindly brushed me off and invited me to photograph their day despite that. Naturally, I grabbed a talented second photographer and headed to Ferndale to capture all the beauty!
Let me tell you, what a joy it was to have all of their combined friends in one room, helping tie each other's ties. Not to mention, Sarah and Avery had two purple-haired bridesmaids both named Michelle. ✨
After getting ready in their townhouse, the ceremony was held outdoors at the Van Hoosen Museum in Rochester Hills, Michigan.
Now, if you have yet to visit The Rust Belt Market in downtown Ferndale, please, turn off your computer and go straight there. It's an adorable market filled with local vendors selling antiques and handmade soaps, not to mention that it's a darn great place to have a wedding.
If there was a moral to Sarah & Avery's wedding it would be to be yourself.
Wear what you want. Invite who you love. Dance all night. I didn't even mention all the vegan and gluten free foods they served for dinner. What a treat to capture and witness. Thank you for having me, I will always treasure this day.
